The center of Tana Toraja tour is in Rantepao, South Sulawesi, which its entrance gate is marked by a traditional boat-shaped architecture.

Tana Toraja, known for its unique culture and ancient traditions. It takes about 8 - 9 hour drive from Makassar, you will pass some regencies in distance of 310 km . This is a scenic drive that will not make you boring. On the way you'll enjoy the beautiful rice field, traditional fish pools and the magnificent traditional houses of Buginese on the right and left side of the main road. Lunch will be at Pare-pare, one of the regencies we passing by in the distance of 175 km. Some stops also will be made for stretching and refreshment including one stop at Bambapuang to see the exotic mountain view of Buntu Kabobong and enjoy some traditional cakes .

Great news that there is flight to Palopo ( from Makassar ) which only take around 2 hours drive to Toraja Land. You are now no longer need to take long drive from Makassar (around 8 Hours). Instead of long driving, you can now safe time by taking flight from Makassar to Palopo which make you possible to direct have excursion on your arrival in Rantepao..

From Rantepao, side trips can be made to Kete, a traditional village where there are handicraft and unique shops. Behind the village there is a grave site on a hillside. Life-size statues guard over old coffins.

Two cliff graves easy to reach are Lemo and Londa. Londa is one of the oldest hanging graves belonging to the nobility. A large balcony is filled with effigies of the dead. Kerosene lamps with young village guides, can be hired to enter the caves to see skeletons and old coffins. At Lemo, burial chambers are cut out of the rock and several balconies filled with effigies look out while new caves are being dug to serve as family graves.

TANA TORAJA TOUR ITINERARY :

DAY 01 : ARRIVAL MAKASSAR – TORAJA HIGHLAND.
Upon arrival at Makassar, meeting service and then transfer to Toraja by fully air-conditioned private car to take a drive-trip to Toraja Land with approximately 8 hours, across the Bugis Vilage with their typical houses on poles along the magnificent mountain. Lunch will be serve at restaurant in Pare-Pare. Late afternoon arrive in Toraja directly hotel check-in for accommodation (Meal : Lunch).

DAY 02 : TANA TORAJA TOUR.
After breakfast at hotel full day exploring Toraja Land, visiting The cliff-side stone grave with wooden effigies on the balcony at LEMO, The royal family tombs at SUAYA, The baby grave in the huge tree at KAMBIRA and Cultural performace at SANGALLA. Lunch will be served at local restaurant in Rantepao. After lunch, visiting the natural cave at LONDA and then proceed to the traditional wooden carving village at KETE KESU. Overnight at hotel (Meal : Breakfast, Lunch).

DAY 03 : TANA TORAJA TOUR.
After breakfast at hotel. The second full day excursion, visiting The most beautiful village with buffalo horns in front of their houses at PALAWA. The Traditional cotton weaving village at SA'DAN, The ancient megalithic stone at BORI and then proceed to SESEAN mount to view the large rice-field terrace at BATUTUMONGA and Lunch will be served on this spot. After Lunch , continue to visit the boulder grave at LOKOMATA and then, Take a nice nature-walk from PANA through the rice-field and some village down to TIKALA . From TIKALA village take a drive back to Rantepao for Refreshment. Back to hotel for overnight

DAY 04 : TORAJA – MAKASSAR.
After breakfast, drive to Makassar to catch your flight for next destination. End of your Toraja tour.
